Dorset Ambassador Scheme

A free, new online training programme is now available for all visitor-facing staff in Dorset.

The Dorset Ambassador Scheme is packed with information on the county, designed to raise understanding of everything Dorset offers holidaymakers.

If you work in tourism, with visitors, are studying or live in Dorset then Dorset Ambassador is for you.

It’s a great opportunity to enhance employment skills, gain a new qualification for your CV, improve your customer care skills and kick start your knowledge of Dorset.

Summer may seem a long way off, but now is the perfect time to encourage customer-facing staff to refresh and improve their customer care skills and knowledge of Dorset.

Created by the National Coastal Tourism Academy (NCTA) and supported by the Visit Dorset Tourism Partnership, Dorset Ambassador covers the entire county and features top tips on providing excellent customer care.

It is very flexible and can be dipped into whenever there’s spare time, at home or at work.  The online based training features a series of modules and fun quizzes and you even get a certificate.

Lyme Regis Tourist Information Centre is the first TIC in West Dorset to gain full ‘Dorset Ambassador’ status.  Trudi Robson, Manager of Lyme Regis Tourist Information Centre said “The Dorset Ambassador training was fun and simple to do and the team learnt some really interesting facts about other areas of Dorset.  I would fully recommend that anyone who works in tourism or with visitors gives it a go, it’s a great accolade to add to your CV”.

  • To become a Dorset Ambassador simply register at www.dorsetambassador.co.uk and get started!  When you have completed your training and obtained your certificate, you can contact the Visit Dorset Tourism Team to apply for your Dorset Ambassador pin badge to wear with pride!
